Thank You from a Graduate Student Using ATLAS Open Data

Hello,

First of all, I wasn’t entirely sure which category to select, so I chose “uncategorized.” If that was incorrect, I sincerely apologize.

My name is Berna Dülger, and I’m a final-year student at Erciyes University in Turkey, expecting to graduate in about two months. I just completed my thesis project using your dataset, and I wanted to reach out to express how genuinely grateful I am to your organization.

When I discovered ATLAS Open Data, it opened up a completely new world for me. I spent days going through your documentation and tutorials, trying to absorb everything you’ve built on that platform. It provided me with incredibly valuable and meaningful knowledge. I’m truly impressed that you’ve made real CERN data accessible to students and researchers everywhere, regardless of where they are in the world. This opportunity means more to me than I can put into words, and I have enormous respect for the chance you give to everyone equally.

In case you’re interested, I’d like to share my GitHub repository and poster with you.My project focused on using machine learning to distinguish between signal and background in the diphoton channel of Higgs boson and QCD processes.Since this is my first serious project in particle physics, there may be some shortcomings, but being able to take raw ROOT files and process them all the way through to analysis was incredibly rewarding.

I’ve been telling everyone I know about this valuable resource, and I sincerely want to thank you for your contributions to our future. You’re doing amazing work!

Best regards,
Berna Dülger
